This is video from a case on Judge Judy where a motorist is injured by a dog running into the street and causing an accident.
I'm not sure how often this kind of incident would happen in the 5 boroughs, but I think the point here is that people need to be aware that cyclists have rights equal to those of motorists.

The outcome was no suprise here. The winner was the bike, car came in second, and the train/bus rider came in last. To be fair, I think if they started at a location where the mass transit commuter didn't need to take 2 modes of transportation, the results may have been a little different.
It's excellent to show the world that bikes regularly trounce cars in getting from point A to point B fastest in NYC. We cyclists didn't need a race to prove that we kick ass in that capacity. Now if only that would get more cars off the road.
